Festival of Science 2025
On 23 October – 02 November 2025, researchers of the Institute of Sciences of Food Productions of the National Research Council (CNR), Italy, organised a “hands-on” didactic laboratory within the framework of the event Festival of Science 2026 in Genova, Italy, the major Italian event that connects the world of science research with citizens.

The 23rd edition of the Science Festival attracted a total of over 200,000 attendees in 11 days. The attendance figures for schools were particularly noteworthy, with over 25,000 students from 13 Italian regions and classes from as far away as Portugal.
The CNR laboratory titled “Strane ma buone! Proteine che salvano il pianeta. Strange but good! Proteins that save the planet.” was visited by 1235 persons from 11-18 year old students representing the main core group of visitors.

Researchers at CNR, together with young scientific animators, presented scientific activities related to food safety conducted in the CIPROMED project, particularly those focused on detecting food allergens in edible insects and microalgae as Novel foods.

The University of Thessaly and AlgaEnergy made an important contribution by providing insect and microalgae samples.
