IRTA Visit

Professor Christos Athanassiou (UTH) recently visited IRTA (Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology) in Spain, a leading public research institution focused on advancing knowledge in agriculture, food, and the environment to support sustainable practices and innovation.

His visit was hosted by Dr. Jordi Riudavets—an expert entomologist known for his work in biological pest control, sustainable agriculture, and post-harvest management.

During the visit, Professor Athanassiou was given an insightful tour of IRTA’s state-of-the-art facilities, providing a firsthand look at their research and development efforts (see attached photos). This visit also offered an opportunity for Professor Athanassiou to present the goals of the CIPROMED project, highlighting its mission to foster sustainable agriculture in the Mediterranean region through innovative research and cross-institutional collaboration.

The visit to IRTA marks another step forward in CIPROMED’s efforts to build partnerships and raise awareness of its objectives within the agricultural research community.
