OLIWA and CIPROMED join forces!
In June 2025, during the ASPA25 conference, Christos Athanassiou and Christos Rumbos met with Maria Teresa Capucchio and Laura Gasco from UNITO, regarding the prioritization of WP2 of OLIWA, a Section 1 project that is funded in 2025 by PRIMA, and the selection of species and olive residues at different geographical locations, based on some key elements. The group also visited Ospedale Veterinario Universitario of UNITO.
About the OLIWA project:
OLIWA – REPURPOSING OLIVE WASTE IN CIRCULAR ECONOMY SOLUTIONS FOR FEEDS, ADDITIVES, PACKAGING, AND BIOGAS
OLIWA will conduct research activities to support the repurposing of olive waste to coproducts in a circular economy approach for feeds, functional ingredients, packaging, and biogas, demonstrating the feasibility and sustainability of the circular value chain in six Mediterranean locations (Italy, Spain, Greece, Turkey, Algeria, and Tunisia). OLIWA will apply the Circular Economy/zero waste principle, developing a sustainable and innovative “Olive by Products” repurposing model.
